Her achievements as a young performer in America (which is known as Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into the child-prodigy class. However, for a child from Irish heritage surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family, those were not innate traits. Maureen entered into this nurturing home on August 17, 20, in Ranelagh. Her mother, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons placed second from a household of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen excelled at sports and enjoyed playing rough sports. She combined this interest with an equally natural gift to perform. This is why she received almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances in her country of birth. At the age of 14, she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her passion for classical theatre and opera singing.
